Research projects

The research groups at the Department of Molecular Genetics.

My lab has the twin aims of understanding the cell and tissue basis of animal development, primarily through advanced live cell imaging approaches, and of elucidating the regulatory basis for species-specific development and physiology, through the framework of functional genetics, comparative 'omics, and molecular evolution.

We have just arrived in Hohenheim in September 2022 -- more coming soon!

The correct development, the fertility and the survival of multicellular organisms like the fly Drosophila melanogaster depend on several factors. These include the maintenance of genome integrity, the faithful differentiation of cells, the regulation of growth and an active immune system – or in short: resilience towards internal and external stressors, notably of stem cells. We aim at uncovering the underlying molecular mechanisms that may lead eventually to novel therapies, e.g. against leukemia. more
